4th EuroStrings Guitar Competition starts next week
We are getting closer to the big annual EuroStrings Guitar Competition. Its fourth edition will be held in Petrer, Spain as a part of the International Guitar Festival Jose Tomas Villa de Petrer. The competition will be held both in-person and online for those EuroStrings Artists who won’t be able to travel to Spain due to covid-19 restrictions. They will play virtually in real-time for the jury who will be watching their performance via live stream, while the rest of the EuroStrings Artists will perform in person.
The competition will be organized in three rounds. First round is scheduled for two days – July 21st and 22nd. July 23rd is reserved for the Semifinal round, while the big Finals will be held a day later – July 24th. It is important to highlight that the obligatory piece in the Final round is the winning composition of the 3rd EuroStrings Composition Contest called Under the willow, composed by Florian Colombet.
The jury includes Margarita Escarpa, David Russell, Pavel Steidl, Antonio Rumenović, Susana Prieto, Mariano Rivas, Alexis Muzurakis, Jorge Orozco, Marco Smaili as well as all the Artistic Directors of EuroStrings partner festivals.
Furthermore, the award ceremony will be held on July 24th at the Teatro Cervantes, followed by a concert by legendary flamenco performers: Pepe Habichuela, Rafael Riqueni, Kiki Morente and Bandolero. We are a week away from this spectacle that will give us the 4th EuroStrings Competition winner.
Talented Jesse Flowers won the first-ever EuroStrings competition, while Polish guitarist Mateusz Kowalski took that title a year after that. The winner of the previous edition was Lovro Peretić from Croatia who is currently on his European tour. We can’t wait to see who will take the “guitar throne” next!
