Joan Furió Vivas (Paris International Guitar Festival)

Born into a musical family, Joan Furió Vivas (1999) began his musical education and took his first steps with the guitar over 14 years ago. He studied for a Professional Degree of Music at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona with his father, professor Joan Furió Navarro. He received an Honours Awards in his Major as a Soloist and in his Major in Chamber music.

He is presently studying the Bachelor of Music at the GuildHall School of Music and Drama in London with Professor Robert Brightmore and at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu de Barcelona with Professor Guillem Pérez-Quer. In addition to his music studies he is also studying for a degree in Geography at Universitat de Barcelona. He has complemented his studies with specialist courses and guitar seminars such as Liechtensteiner Gitarrentage LiGiTa, Koblenz International Guitar Festival & Academy and Festival de Guitarra Ciutat d’Elx, where he has attended masterclasses by internationally renowned guitarists like Álvaro Pierri, David Russell, Roland Dyens, Manuel Barrueco, Sergio Assad, Pablo Márquez, Leo Brouwer, Jérémy Jouve, Marta Masters, Carles Trepat, Àlex Garrobé, Peter Maklar, Matteo Mela, Stefan Hackl, Gaëlle Solal, Brigitte Zaczek, Hubert Käppel, Laurent Blanquart, José Antonio Escobar, Romilio Orellana, Walter Würdinger, Michael Buchrainer, Anders Miolin, Susana Prieto and Marco Socías.

Joan has performed as a solo guitarist, in chamber music groups and as a member of other music groups such as Orquestra Jove de la Selva and Ensemble de Guitarres Ad Líbitum BCN. His performances have taken place all over Spain (Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Valencia and Galicia), in the United Kingdom, Liechtenstein, Portugal and France.

He was awarded an Honourable Mention for his performances as a soloist in the music contest on interpretation, run by the official Conservatory of music in Girona, Conservatori Isaac Albèniz de Girona and also, both as a soloist and in a chamber group, the first prize in the Honours Award for Interpretation at the official Conservatory of music in Barcelona (Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona).

He is the conductor of the guitar ensemble in the Orquestra Jove de la Selva, has been giving private guitar lessons since 2015 and has worked for a number of music schools as a substitute teacher.
